Fall Events at Soul Sanctuary

September is upon us and around the world it is time to head back to school.

“Hooray!” shouts every college student and harried mother. Now that the adults are freer, let’s launch Soul Sanctuary’s Fall classes, workshops, and retreats! It’s short and sweet, this announcement. Scan the list to see what peaks your curiosity and check your calendars.

You know this is true: if you don’t put it in your calendar, it ain’t gonna happen.

There is too much potential to soothe your soul, up level your vibration, and dive deep within the healing potential of many different modalities to miss. Heave ho that Karmic Wounding with InnerSpeak Level 1 Training with Jean Adrienne on November 16th and 17th at Soul Sanctuary AND on ZOOM.

I’ve known Jean for many years and have turned to InnerSpeak often. Especially when life seems to be throwing a lot at me at once. In partnership with the Angels, Jean created InnerSpeak over 20 years ago. She has traveled around the world teaching practitioners and now is landing in Moorestown, New Jersey. We’ll add the ZOOM room to the mix so wherever you may be, you can learn this method for yourself and your clients.

Jean will be offering private InnerSpeak sessions on Friday, November 15th live at Soul Sanctuary.

A person arrives who inspires you or a shares an idea that sparks your creativity. The heart knows when you are stagnant and need to move into a new way of being. The signs are familiar as you feel unsettled, bored, unhappy, or losing interest in your current activities. Trusting your Soul to bring the next invitation for growth and trusting your heart to know it is true is natural to the process of evolution. Put aside the books and people who are telling you how to grow. Listen to your Soul and your Heart. They know the way for you.

Peruvian Harmony. Seeding the Earthkeeper.

Meet Juanita and Francisco, shamans from Peru.

This beautiful couple waves from a hill above the only moon temple in Peru. Known as Killarumiyok, the moon dial served many generations with tracking the movement of the stars, seasons, and energies. The shamans had a full morning traveling with our group by bus to this site in the Sacred Valley, hiking the mountain, and setting up the ceremony for our arrival.

That was a day of powerful teaching for me as the Feminine opened my heart and held my hand on the climb.

We began by creating a Pachamama stick before we hiked. In conversation with the flowers and plants, we chose the blossoms that called us and, with permission from nature, we wrapped these offerings around a stick. Told that we would encounter a rock split in the center, representing the vagina or birth canal, we prepared an offering. 

Each step, I prepared myself and my small Pachamama stick as an offering.

I felt something profound on the horizon, something which had no words. I was hiking amidst a group of lovely people, yet I felt as if I was alone on my own journey. My steps were easy and my breath was full. This was a place familiar to me where I climbed last year. I headed for a place of power that I laid upon and called to the Grandmothers to offer me wisdom and healing.

Truth be told, things got a bit hazy at that point.

Whatever occurred is beyond my mind at present, so I‘ll move along to arriving at the rock with a huge crack. Flowers spilled out and prayers lit up the area. Walking through the wet, mushy grass, I went around the back to share my intention.

A woman was healing something with her head upon that rock and her sobs wracking her body.

I felt called to stand in stillness, a quiet witness. And then it was time to move. I gathered her in my arms and helped her soothe as she returned her awareness to the moment. I offered my hand to her, shaky as she was, to climb the steep hill. 

And then I lost my breath. 

As if the altitude had changed drastically, I had to pause frequently to catch my breath as we climbed hand in hand. Now she was still, waiting for me. Our roles had reversed.

I learned on that climb that we are never alone and help is given or received when needed.

I entered the ceremony which would include another Munay Ki Rite, that of the Earthkeeper. 

I brought my whole being to that circle and my Soul said yes to whatever light would be offered. The mountains were active, offering their wisdom, and the shamans were prepared to transmit the seeds of this initiation. Something happened then that shifted my whole being to a new reality. Suddenly, I knew anything was possible and I was open to it. 

I received my seeds of light from Pascual with so much joy and enthusiasm.

And then I went still, as did the mountains and the land. My eyes travelled upward and tracked the eagle which arrived to circle our group. Blessing our ceremony. Traveling down the mountain was easy. We stopped to chant together at the moon calendar, located next to my favorite dreaming rock.

Feeling complete, I looked up to see Francisco and Juanita smiling down upon us.

When I raised my camera with a question, they stood and smiled. It was a lovely moment and a heartfelt connection. Little did I know I would be welcoming Francisco into my home a few months later.

He arrives, without Juanita, but traveling with Pascual, Chino, and Jose Tomas in just a few days. 

So many of us are joining together to receive the Seeds of Light offered through the Munay Ki Rites and the sacred ceremony these shamans will share with us. This is a dream received high in the Temple of the Sun in Ollantaytambo following a beautiful exchange with the mountains. It was seeded, nourished, and brought to form rather rapidly. For this, I am grateful, yet after that powerful experience with the Earthkeeper‘s Rite, I am not surprised.

Fair trade products from Peru are available via many resources. When I first learned that quinoa, a staple for the Peruvian diet, was becoming too expensive for locals due to the high demand of overseas consumption, I was dismayed. That led me to research how to purchase not only quinoa but all Peruvian products from Fair Trade certified suppliers. This certification, across all countries, meets rigorous economic, social, and environmental standards. Do your research so those producing the product benefit. This honors Ayni (reciprocity) which is an embedded social and spiritual aspect of Peruvian culture.

Aspirational Dreaming

Aspirational Dreaming.

It’s a thing. Consider how many times you are presented with someone who does something truly amazing or simply appealing. And you notice a response in your own being. A quickening. A feeling of thrill or aliveness in your body. Or a sense of “Wow!” that floats itself forward with words to express your admiration or interest. Perhaps it’s a private, tiny voice within that says …

“I’d like to do that.”

However you get “sparked,” times like these are noticeable if you’re paying attention. It’s important to differentiate between noticing admiration or being impressed by someone’s achievements, commitment to excellence, or a personal quality like intelligence, curious enthusiasm, or a potential for joyful love.

There’s a bit of aspirational noticing in these moments as well.

Yet, you don’t feel inspired to leap out of your chair and yell “Yes! I too will swim from Cuba to Florida without stopping at the age of 64!” For those of you who are missing that reference, check out the movie Nyad on Netflix. I first heard Diane Nyad interviewed on the Chasing Life podcast with Sanjay Gupta. “Wow!” I thought. “That’s amazing.”

After watching the movie of her epic swims (yes, plural), I’m still amazed.

And have absolutely no desire to get off my comfy couch and dip my toe in a pool, let alone swim across an ocean. (If you haven’t read about my courageous weeny swim with dolphins in Hawaii, you can do so here). So, that’s a hard no. No fizzle of excitement and longing to aspire to that feat.

Inspiration, even when faced with someone’s aspirational character, does not a dream make.

You’ve got to tune into your own oracle. That spidey sense that lives within you and knows how to track the clues on your Soulful Map. While sometimes it is clear, your inner knowing often whispers in goosebumps, single thought sentences, or an unsettled feeling in your solar plexus.

That’s a typical signal for me.

When my solar plexus starts getting squirmy and I’m thinking “uh oh,” I’m aware that something is coming down that garden Soul Path and aiming right toward me.

Requiring me to pay attention, take some Tiny Actions toward whatever nudge is appearing, and say “yes” even if my eyes squeeze shut and I cross my fingers behind my back.

When someone or something demonstrates a part of your Soul’s next dream, you’ll get put on notice. 


Whether you are attuned enough to notice the notice is another story.

However, I believe you’re fully wired to perceive and translate all the clues laid upon your path. After all, you’ve got 5 senses in working order, an oracle body, and a 6th sense that is already scanning for your next expansion.

That’s one way to catch the dream. Notice what seems really appealing to you – aspirational even – and give it a wee bit of attention.

All it takes is that little nod of noticing for your Soul to say “Yes! Game on!” It’s a tricky thing, this clue following. If your mind gets in on the game too early, it does what it always does. Tries to figure out what the clues mean or how it’s gonna work out or if you’ve got what it takes, etc, etc, etc.

The mind is a party pooper and a dream crasher.

Yet, there is a bit of loveliness about that mind of yours. It has stored so much knowledge, many strategies, and knows how to plan stuff and take action. It’s such a help in so many ways. The mind can’t help crashing about like a bull in a china shop when the Aspirational Dreaming process turns on (or is noticed midway through its process).

So let’s not be so hard on the mind, but put it to good use.

I’m in the midst of my Aspirational Dreaming process these days. I’ve explored my Hidden Gems from last year. I’m spending time in reflection with my blank journal of creative wonder. (Just so we’re clear, my mind and solar plexus are very creatively wondering what the hell we’re up to in 2024. Both are busy commenting and squirming about. And I’m doing my utmost best to ignore them.)

I’m tracking clues now. What person, story, action, imaginative idea, or place in this lovely world is catching my attention?

When I notice my inner fizzle of excitement, anxiety, or a sense of a “yes” to a really cool idea, I make note. Wherever I am, I write it in my phone or on a scrap of paper. I tell whomever I’m with, if trustworthy with my dreaming, what is emerging. I track the clues like Inspector Clouseau on a good day.

Then I draw, write, and describe those clues on the blank pages of my new journal.

Aspirational Dreaming. So many ways to play the Soul’s Game. This is my way this year. In 2010, I played this game for a dozen Fridays at the Grounds for Sculpture in New Jersey. Almost a year to the day later, Soul Sanctuary was birthed. That dream worked out well. If you don’t know that story, you can read it here.

The Soul is your partner in this process. The mind is the servant. You’re the one noticing stuff with your beautiful body oracle.

You don’t have to swim across the ocean with jelly fish, sharks, and storms. You just have to explore the possibility that there’s more to life this year than you’re currently expecting.

Dive in and explore what’s possible. I’ll be swimming in the currents of curious exploration with you. It’s gonna be a good year!

So many scientific discoveries, courageous exploration, and inventions that benefit humanity have landed unexpectedly. Often in the shower, while napping, or when playing with friends. It’s important for your intuitive dreaming as well as your logical, linear planning to take breaks. To let your body, mind, emotions, and energy take a rest. Go out and play a bit more. Find your way of R&R that is enjoyable, not just a vegging on the couch as a recovery method. Enthusiastic play, relaxation, and enjoyable activity. It’s all vitally important for the creative genius that you’re capable of being. The world benefits from small to gigantic ideas. Time to play and dream.

Soul Sanctuary Celebrates 12 Years.

I’m sitting in a silent Soul Sanctuary. Quietly communing with the wonder of this space.

It’s a bit mind blowing to review the journey that got me here. My original plan was to continue as psychologist and executive director of a nonprofit agency serving DYFS adolescents until I retired. Funny how Life has a way of inviting you onto a new path. Even funnier that you say yes. Innocently stepping onto an entirely new trajectory that at first masquerades as something similar to the path you’ve been living.

Not all Journeys have clearly marked paths and signs. I think that’s by design.

I’m not sure I had the vision or the courage back then to head in the direction I’ve been led. Although with hindsight, I must’ve had a huge trust and a fair amount of courage to walk away from the security of a job that allowed me to grow personally, empower others, and create change in the wider community. Thank the Angels who whispered there was another way even though I didn’t know who was talking nor where that “way” would lead me.

That was in 2005 and there were many twists and unexpected turns that landed me here today celebrating Soul Sanctuary’s 12th birthday.

I’m awash in gratitude. Allowing the images of the people who have walked through these doors. Seeking solace, expansion, community, and above all, love. I’m moved deeply by the way everyone has seeded Soul Sanctuary with trust, courage, desire, and movement toward a broader life. And how tears, laughter, and determination have watered these seeds. I’m thinking of all the people who have helped me in so many ways, and those who share the gift of the work we do at Soul Sanctuary with others. It is so very helpful and really generous. I’m awash in this generous spirit in this very moment.

Entering an energetically enriched conscious space such as Soul Sanctuary naturally invites and empowers healing and transformation.

I’ve witnessed a lot of transformation in myself, my offerings, and the way in which transformation occurs within people. It has become easier, more gracefully fluid, and quite astonishing to witness how that which creates suffering may fall away to reveal that which is ready to blossom.

It’s a quiet year without fanfare, this 12th wonder of a birthday for Soul Sanctuary. Yet there are gifts to be given and worthy children to receive them.

The annual Village Walk is taking place this Saturday, October 7th, in many areas.

I won’t be walking in Moorestown at Strawbridge Lake this year, so Esther Clark is leading the way. If you’re local, join Esther from the Church St entrance. Walk begins at 10 am and is a lovely, easy stroll with friends. Arrive a few minutes early.

I’ll be celebrating young love at a wedding so I’ll dance for Love O kids this year.

They are worth our attention, love, and of course, our monetary contribution. You can register to walk or run at a few locations. Or you can sit on your couch, work in your garden, or play with your grandkids. However you want to spend the day is great. Go ahead and register to walk or make a donation.

It’s a big deal this year ’cause Haiti’s poverty, gang activity, and civil unrest has run up prices and required the Love O family to relocate temporarily for safety reasons.

My heart is full of gratitude for Gabriel who committed his life to care for orphans in Haiti.

He always speaks with astonishment that people around the world would help him raise these children. That many Difference Makers would fund education and travel during the summers to Haiti and create a Culture Camp with the kids. He just can’t believe so many care about children in a forgotten place.

Yet what astonishes all of us is that a man can commit his life to make the impossible possible.

I’ve seen first hand over 3 summers, and years of photos, how love can truly inspire people to make a life saving difference for virtual strangers. I thank you. All of you who have never met Gabriel and the Love O kids but have supported the Be a Difference Maker program because my kid asked you to put them through school. And now, I ask you to help them live.

This dream of a healthy, safe Love O is astounding and totally achievable. And worth celebrating.

It’s an ordinary day turned magical with my focus on 12 years of beauty, love, and transformation. And a heartfelt prayer that children in Haiti and everywhere be supported on their own path of growth.

I wouldn’t feel so completely awash in gratitude without you and all the ways you show up.

May you continue to be blessed as you walk the path your Soul calls you to, with ease or challenge, knowing you are part of a community that loves, transforms, and serves with gratitude.

A lot has happened since I first “met” the Love O Family. Gabriel and his staff of 2 cared for 19 kids in an overcrowded house. No school. Limited food. Long term effects of trauma and malnourishment. And plenty of love, faith, and hard work. Since then? 9 years of school. New home with solar panels, lights (!), running water. Medical care. New children. 4 summers of Culture Camp. Swims in the ocean. Amazing. They’ve had losses. Normal losses and heartbreaking tragedies. Dangers and moves to safety. The hardships continue in Haiti, yet Love is the prevailing force. It shows itself in healthy, happy children. Gratitude overflows for all who persist in their support of Love O. You truly are a Difference Maker.

Valued relationships, my very personhood
Nothing protected from an unseen hand
Wiping clean my slate
Upending familiar ground upon which I tread
Tinkering with a fragile sense of self
While I sleep
Walk
Through days chock full of importance

Despite every grand effort to trick
That which I want and need

Cemented into certainty
Everything flickers and grows feeble
Snuffed out like a flame
Abruptly squeezed by meaty fingers
Or barely noticed, fading like dusk
Soundlessly swallowed whole by night

On solid ground amidst shifting sands
Sheltered beneath a canopy so green
Glistening with cascading rain
Softly nourishing gardens and lawns
Quiet companion on a leash

An amusement park of movement and stillness
Revealing the script behind the play
Written in vanishing ink

Nothing matters  And everything is worth engaging in

Life in every form is meant to be lived
Not there
Far in the future dressed in a different garment
Bright, beautiful and pleasing to the i
But here
Looking as it is right now
Not well put together
Yet perfectly arranged

Shifting awareness emboldened
By a dog unburdened by a broken foot
Gracefully releasing the chase of
Every wiry squirrel 
Content to sniff the winds of change
Black and white fur dancing
With pink petals, water and breeze
Untroubled by the sun’s game of hiding
Vigilantly at rest, no need to seek
Eyes meet in silent acquiescence

Hands splayed open
Grasping not one thing
I treasure that which cleans my slate
And welcome the dusk that robs my light
I pray then and there to the witness within
Let this softening of my body
Sing a gentle lullaby to my mind’s desire
To know, to strive, to do, to become
So I may instead honor this temporary breeze

Creativity is inherent to human development and essential to discovery of the wonder of the world. Anyone who has every witnessed an infant discover her toes or attended a high school art show has done their research. The question for you is not whether you are creative, rather how are you expressing your creativity. By choosing different ways to express yourself and your view of the world,  you enhance new neural learning, hone observational skill, and let a wee bit of your genius flow out to the world. The more you create, the more you translate the world according to you for the rest of us to enjoy. Forget about being good at anything. Create as an experiment, for the sheer joy of it, or to enhance wellbeing.

Celebrating Service & Dreams Come True

In the United States, we celebrate Memorial Day this weekend. 

Many view Memorial Day only as a long weekend to jump start the summer and enjoy the beach. It definitely carries a vibe of freedom and relief that summer is here. I think that feeling of freedom and relief was seeded when Memorial Day was first established as a day to celebrate all those who served in armed forces. To honor their bravery, commitment, and sacrifice. 

On Memorial Day, we honor those who have served and all that was lost.

Regardless of whether these men or women ever saw battle, all lost something. The very nature of living in a world where we must defend to the death our rights, borders, supremacy, and “stuff” leads to the loss of security, innocence, and a soulful path. The loss of life, limbs, time with family and friends, mental and emotional health, and internal peace represent a fraction of what was taken by war.

All so we could feel free enough to grab our picnic and head to the beach. 

It’s bigger and more complicated than that, of course. But for this weekend, it’s a beautiful thing to honor those who stepped in to serve their country. I honor my grandfather Arthur, father in law Lou, cousins Mike, Deanna and Alexis, friends Rodrigo and JT, and my lawn guru John. Recently visiting Pearl Harbor, I recognize the devastation of loss from war.

So, I dream of a future peace where we all enjoy the freedom of a day at the beach together.

So much more to celebrate as dreams come true, bellies are full, and my bee hotel opens for business.

There’s a lot of happy news to report so here are a few tidbits to cheer you up!

Our recent Soul Sanctuary food drive was well received in Burlington City.

The idea of a “quickie” Soul Sanctuary food expanded a bit when I received $1200 as your personal food drive shopper. It took four trips and a bunch of helpers to gather and organize all that food. Plus the bags dropped off at Soul Sanctuary. It took two SUVs to transport all those goodies so that’s reason to celebrate!

As my husband and I pulled up to SisterHood, PhilAbundance arrived to unload two pallets of fresh fruit and veggies.

In less than 30 minutes, the previously empty SisterHood food pantry was stocked. Full bellies are in the future for many grateful families. Here’s just one more thing I learned. When I phoned SisterHood on Monday, I was told the pantry was really low on food. When we arrived 8 days later, the dry and canned food section was empty. Empty. That hit me, so I’ll be more conscious of the need for good food to be sent to my neighbors and get to it. Wherever you live, there are hungry families and food pantries to serve them. 

Love Orphanage is doing the happy dance in Haiti!!

Our beloved Ylionor, the oldest of the 19 Love O kids, has begun his secondary education. Whoo hoo! He is the first to step into the dream of the Be a Difference Maker Program (created by my kid) to graduate high school AND receive secondary training. We celebrated his graduation last June with a coffee house fundraiser to build the vocational school educational fund. 

Ylionor has entered the Wonderful Institute to study information technology. Wonderful indeed.

For all of you “wonderful” people who have supported the Be a Difference Maker program for the Love O kids in Haiti over the past 10 years, THANK YOU! This is the opportunity that your dreaming hearts and generous pockets created. And there are more kids studying to become the future Difference Makers of Haiti. Closer to home, I’ve completed the Pachamama garden at my home. Pollinators welcome!

When I was in Peru, meditating on top of a mountain after our sacred ceremony where I received the Munay Ki Earth Keeper initiation, I received a vision from Pachamama (Mother Earth). I saw my home with its manicured garden overflowing with colorful blossoms. “Create my altar and welcome my children,” whispered Pachamama. 

I don’t garden, hate digging in the dirt, and don’t know much about plants. So, I said “Yes, I will.”

I do know how to get expert advice, shop for flowers, schedule my lawn guru, and create beauty. So, I got busy. I wandered around the nursery until I’d spy something that had me gasp in delight (happened often). I read the tags, envisioned the empty spaces, made 3 trips, and laid everything where it wanted to be planted. My guys did the rest. The gardeners planted and my husband watered. 

Leaving me free to wander, drink in beauty, and invite the pollinators to visit.

The bee hotel is going up in the tree this weekend. A gift from a family friend who made it from wood taken from a massive tree which fell on my childhood home a while back. While the home is no longer ours and the tree long gone, it’s nice to know another community will gather around it. The bees have arrived and I’m waiting for the butterflies and hummingbirds. Oh, and there’s Simon.

I met Simon when he popped out from under my lilies to say hello. I was delighted to discover a lizard living in Pachamama’s garden.

Somehow I knew his name and that he came to greet me. As is my habit with animals, I introduced myself. “Hi, Simon, I’m Kathy Milano. I live here.” And then I paused ’cause that hit me as funny. We humans always think we rule the roost. “I guess you live here, too. Glad to share the space with you.” Simon came out later in the evening to meet my husband. I think he’s steering clear of Milo.

Remember This: You’re Already Perfect

You’ve grown up human, so I guess your mind is littered with ideas that aren’t so helpful.

You know the kind of trash talk you offer yourself (or believe when others offer it to you). How you’re not good enough or there is something inherently wrong with you. Or you how can’t figure your way out of the current (repeated) struggle in life. All those ways you feel like a fraud or must hide your shameful imperfections from the world.

Including that great big failure zone that stretches backward and projects forward in time. And all the ways you haven’t achieved your dreams, disappointed yourself and others, or sabotaged your happiness and success.

What if that wasn’t the real story?

Sure, it’s the story you, like most people, tell themselves. And share with others if those others are trustworthy enough to hear about your private pain. The story of your imperfections, failures, and disappointments. I know these stories. I view them in my mind, hear them in my friends and clients, and witness them in society’s stories (fictional and real). 

It’s a shared human story. While the details may vary, the themes remain the same. 

Innocently, you’ve damned yourself for being human. 

Ouch. Carrying that heavy story around gets tiring. 

And it slows you down, making you less vibrant, intelligent, and joyful. It’s a little crazy really that we’re all letting the existence of human frailty, which everyone experiences, turn into a story of personal imperfection. 

Especially ’cause it’s bullshit.

Give me 6 minutes and I'll help you remember how amazingly beautiful you already are.

I was sitting in a big comfy chair in Barnes and Noble minding my business when a series of questions arrived in my head with the instruction, “Write these down.”

I had extensive training as a good little student, so I wrote them down. Looked at them, shrugged, and put them away in my briefcase. I wasn’t even that curious – maybe because I was at a good part in my book. 

Weeks later, now settled in the cafe at Barnes and Noble, that same voice in my head said, “Get out the questions.”

So I did. Reading them again, I got curious. That must’ve been the “key” as words began spilling through my mind. I wrote as fast as I could until everything stopped. As I read through everything, I heard the third instruction, “Record this.” So I did. 

Already Perfect is a reminder that you don’t have to buy into the inaccurate depiction of yourself as less than.

Mystics and children (who are well treated) already know this truth. You, my friend, at the core of your beautiful, personal being are Already Perfect. 

When you know this to be true, it is true. And if it’s true for you, then it’s true for them. And so on. And so on.

When you celebrate the perfection of your essence, even as you travel the messy, imperfect path of growing up human, you help everyone remember.

Are you a conscious shopper? With so much information available on the web these days, it becomes easier to research your products before you purchase. While some companies report how much they give back to local communities or donate (often a requirement of doing business in a certain location), many businesses take it a step further. Innovative technology, sustainable materials, reducing harmful emissions, caring well for workers, repurposed materials. It makes good sense for the planet and also good cents for the company. There are plenty of ways to win. It takes time to become an educated consumer and investor. Explore one thing at a time and make a change for good. Your good. Pachamama’s good. Our shared future kinda good.

Light Begets Light

Just a quick LOVE note after a day of connecting at the Holistic Health and Healing Expo.

I met so many wonderful new and already known people on Sunday. It was a bit of a whirlwind with lots of laughter, hugs, mini catch ups, and invitations. I feel like my Sacred Art was blessed by the positive energy of the event. Thanks so much for the quick chat. If I missed you or you weren’t there, I hope for that quick chat or more in the future. My takeaway? It’s good to be in the light.

Surrounded by those seeking to allow their Soulful radiance to emerge. Through the challenges of living human which, as you know, dims the light and dampens the joy. It takes a toll on the physical, mental, and emotional bodies in so many ways. Kudos to Natural Awakenings for creating a space with so many different options for healing all levels. 

That’s the beauty of a gathering of light seekers – everyone shines brighter as a result of coming together.  

The world has always needed people filled with hope, optimism, courage, and vision. AND the capacity to transform the systems that aren’t enlightened into systems that are on purpose to live in harmony in a way that benefits all beings and the planet.  

It seems we’re all a little brighter as a result of hanging out with other beautiful Souls.

I’m reflecting on all of the places and people which brighten my resolve to become a better human. I believe your growth is enhanced when you get conscious about who you are hanging with, what you are doing together, and what emerges for the benefit of others.

Light begets light. Love begets Love.

While this may be obvious during all of your spiritual or humanistic explorations, I’m also interested in the mundane encounters. Where normal life happens without the mention of spiritual evolution, transforming through challenge, or waking the heck up. Like my love chat with my dog this morning, my text exchange with the ladies in my extended family, and my conversation with a business colleague yesterday. 

Love is everywhere present.

In you. In them. And especially in times of conflict, inner grumpiness, and feeling lost.

I like to play that game of “Seek and Find” just like I did with my friends in the neighborhood.

I usually start with myself and seek to find some light even in the midst of any dimness or disappointment in the moment. I get my full game on especially when I’m made uncomfortable by another person, group belief, or situation in the world.

You can be enthusiastic when dropped into the dark, your “shadow” included! I saw proof of that when the lights went out at the expo.

In the midst of an Angel session, the place went dark. (That’s funny timing and the Angels are now cracking up. So, I wonder who orchestrated that tiny drama.) As the electric light disappeared, all exhibitors and attendees seemed to joyfully yell “Whoaaa!” as they laughed. And laughed.

When the lights returned (quickly), there was applause, excited chatter, and more laughter.

Let there be light. And I hope you gleefully yell "Whoaaaa!" next time you drop into your darkness.

Sitting in the Mall. Ho Ho Ho No.

I was back at the Apple store. In the mall. During holiday shopping season.  

For someone who doesn’t shop much nor go to the mall during holiday season, here I was (again) at the Apple store. Second round of checking out why only one of my Air Pods worked. My original pair was fading and only the left pod worked. So I purchased a new pair only to discover that the right pod didn’t connect. 

A cheerful Apple Elf set me up with an appointment with a Genius who would resolve my issue. 

Any time I can work with a Genius, I’m in. Although I balked when told I’d have to wait over an hour for the next available smarty pants. Truth be told, I panicked a bit. What was I going to do in a mall for over an hour with all of these shoppers? Realizing the absurdity of my response, I accepted the gift of an appointment and set off to complete my one errand. I quickly remembered what I learned in my college marketing class.

Macy’s is filled with bright, shiny objects. All of which are arranged to call your name.

“Look at me! Pick me up! Take me home!” I found it fascinating how my mind was seeking something to buy, even as I ran the gauntlet of perfume bearing ladies wanting to spray me. After all, an hour to kill in the mall was an invitation to browse. Yet, I didn’t need anything and I didn’t fancy the lure of buying something for a quick oxytocin hit.

If browsing was out, perhaps I could get some extra steps in by walking the mall.

I knew that was a thing, mall walking. Unsurprisingly I had a full body shudder and a big fat no to that suggestion. Starbucks beckoned with the sound of blending and shaking, seemingly in rhythm with the holiday music. Another no. So, I stood still and waited to discover how I’d spend my hour. 

A gentle voice from within suggested a preposterous idea. 

“Why not sit on that couch over there?” In the midst of strolling shoppers, a small oasis of artistically positioned couches beckoned. With a seat that was not only free and calling my name, but facing the Apple store.

And then, I remembered.

This Season is Sacred

 

I sat down. Smiled at my neighbors who didn’t notice ’cause they were on their phones.



I breathed deeply as I tuned into the loving vibration that underlies all of life. Sacred in every moment and every movement.

Once connected, I radiated love and appreciation. 

I mean I littered the shit out of that busy mall. Spewing light, joy, and smiles in every direction.


Once I felt the momentum had a life of its own, I checked out my neighbors.I shared a smile with my couch mate, a slouching teen in a hoodie, as we laughed at a serious toddler stalled in the midst of the moving crowd. It was entertaining and refreshing to notice how a parent let a kid be curious and people slowed down for some sweet, humorous interactions.

With more time on my hands, I shared my holiday party photos with some “love you” texts.

Here I was in the mall, on a couch, absorbed in my phone, grinning like a maniac. I had this lovely warm feeling inside. Kinda like how the Grinch felt after he encountered that little genius, Cindy Lou Who.



“Maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps means a little bit more.”



My time on the couch was complete. I took my LightBody into the cheery Apple store and met my Genius. Turns out the right pod was kaput. As she went off to get my replacement, it struck me.



My left pod, representing the Feminine, was active. Inviting me to become still, be receptive, and nourish myself directly from the Source of all things Sacred.



My right pod, representing the Masculine, suggested I tune out the outer world with its bright, shiny lure. So I could turn within to explore what was happening beneath the surface. Apparently, it took my failing Air Pods, two trips to the mall, an hour wait, and an empty couch to help me sit still and soak in the Sacred.



I hope you hear that inner call to let the glitter of the Season be delightful without obscuring the obvious.



Life is Sacred. All the time. Enjoy all the beauty, meaningful connections, and love you can radiate this holiday. Have fun giving and receiving your presents, stuffing your face, and laughing with strangers. When the going gets tough as loneliness or family stress surfaces, drop into the Light that always radiates.

Its nourishing Presence knows that YOU are already shiny and bright.

There’s nothing wrong with shopping in the mall. I did my own research on that couch and watched happy people laden down with bags. Radiating happiness and laughter. Lots of shiny and bright couples and families. I also noticed some stressed out ladies (head down, walking fast). I bet they have “a list” and aren’t enjoying being the only elf in the family. And the expected crying kids and frustrated parents. That’s a given in any mall. Just remember this. Buying stuff that costs more than you can afford to please your sense of obligation or boost your self perception isn’t the greatest gift you can give yourself.

New Andean Energy Medicine Sessions

20 years and 11 months. That’s all it took for me to deliver this empowering healing tradition to you!

Life has a funny way of spiraling around. Waiting until you’ve unloaded enough of the conditioned BS you learned and lived. Opening you to that next wonderful opportunity. And then letting it germinate for just the perfect amount of time. In my case, years! 

My spiritual adventure began in earnest when I stepped onto the Andean Medicine Path 20 years ago. 

It was such a foreign concept for me who was raised Catholic, trained to think scientifically, and launched into mainstream healing with psychology. It was so familiar to my Soul and made a shit ton of sense to me, even when that awareness baffled me.

I’m forever grateful to Alberto Villoldo for his books which introduced me to his work.

And for my friend, Janet, who prompted me to make the epic journey to Manhattan for sessions with Alberto and other Four Winds teachers. For those women I’d gather with to informally study the Beauty Way and all of the foreign, familiar teachings from Peru and the Q’ero Medicine Men and Women of the Andes. Forever grateful.

Then my Soul put that down and introduced the Angels.

 I learned there are different doorways into the healing potential of One great thing where you may align with the powerful energy and Mystery that is behind all healing traditions and spiritual explorations. I meandered around the Angelic Path for years until I was redirected to study Energy Psychology and Energy Medicine. Wow, did that blow my early training out of the water. And, better yet, align quite well with the shamanic and Angelic paths. 

All of these Paths wove together throughout the years, then bowed to the Sacred Feminine Mystery in Her wondrous emergence.

I recognized that familiar adventure of diving deeply, working directly with the etheric teachers, and sharing the wisdom gained via my classes and retreats. So, I wasn’t at all surprised when a few years ago, I was encouraged to teach the Andean Medicine Wheel Path. After all, I had been using that Sacred Map for almost 20 years in my own life and found it practical and empowering. You’d think I’d predict was was coming my way next. Nope.

I was blindsided at the beginning of 2022 when my Soul invited me to study the Andean Medicine Path in earnest.

Thank goodness I had experience listening to my Soul and trusting my capacity to LEAP without knowing where I would land.

The Kinship or Indigenous is posited to be vital to rebalance our life systems. There is a recognition that there are two primary and competing worldviews. The Dominant Worldview which most are living within is said to have more head than heart. Focused upon a rigid hierarchy, tolerant of injustice, built upon competition and personal gain, and the Earth viewed as an “it.” The Indigenous or Kinship Worldview is nonhierarchical, unified, views Earth as alive and loving, and values community welfare. Kinship recognizes collaboration across everything that is living: human groups, animals,  plants species, rivers, and mountains. Restoring the Kinship Worldview by Wahinkpe Topa and Darcia Narvaez may be the read of 2023. I know I’ll have my nose in that wise book.
